Dear Angelica,

I picked up copies of the book review last week, and they are in my office.  You can either drop by and get them today or Friday, or I can drop them off on my way from the Museum to my home in McAllen.

CONGRATULATIONS for one of the best programs (and also best books) I have seen at this museum in the past seven years.  Your book AND your photos and narration all are excellent.

Good luck,

Jim McKone

"Dear Angelica,

..... I can't imagine the amount of hard work, perseverance, and research that went into the final product.

Severo was definitely my favorite character--faults and all. I think all men can identify with the head of a household trying to provide the best possible life for his family.  I was enthralled by how you were able to weave his personal story together with the historical emphasis on Texas annexation.  Finally on a side note, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of Spanish phrases and words I was able to understand as I'm frantically trying to learn Spanish.

Lisa has told me on numerous occasions how proud she is of you--rightfully so.  I can also see where she gets her strong sense of family and heritage.

Muchas Gracias,"
